Progress Report

I know, long time between posts. In my defence, it's been so busy I've barely stopped working in months.

The key thing is that I've been working on a coding project for a bit now. Production ramped up a few months ago, and the carefully planned phases turned into an incredible amount of front-loading where it turned out most of the features in phases 3,4 and 5 are actually required for operation and needed to go into Phase 3. As my pay depends on Phase completion, this has caused issues and a lot of work.

Game-wise, that means I've been snatching time on that here and there, and some stuff is working or completed. I'm slowly battering through it, but there's barely been time for anything.

  • Movement - Improvements on how the character moves. No more instant direction changes.
  • Climbing - There is now a climbing system in place for scaling walls and stuff
  • Swimming - Swimming now works properly, with a few bugs to resolve
  • Shops - Shop interface has been redone, we now have full buy/sell functionality
  • Savegames - Stuff done

Most of these are self-explanatory. Climbing now means you can vault over stuff or climb things that are a bit higher than your head. The better news is that so can enemies.

Swimming is another big change. Before, it was tricky to remain on the surface, there were issues getting in and out of the water and enemies ran along the bottom. Now swimming is fixed to the surface, and enemies also swim now.

Savegames have had a facelift. They now show some gameplay stats as well as a character photo to make it easier to remember where you were.

There's a bunch more changes coming, I've been in the last few tasks of theis coding project for weeks now, but I hope once that clears away I can move back into the game. We've got some ideas such as Patreon products - Items attached to tiers that you get sent after several months of subscription, and some other ideas. It's just annoying I've been stuck in the coding for so long.
